Honeybush has become a bit of a legend among our friends and family. Both Laura and Ruairi's mothers never drank coffee until we introduced them to Honeybush. We like to refer to this coffee as a "tea drinkers coffee" - it is the perfect coffee to buy for someone who likes coffee but who is new to speciality coffees.
Like all our coffee this one is roasted for us by William and Tony in Koffy, just outside Dundalk.
Flavour and Aroma
This coffee is the coffee equivalent of a special edition whiskey. It is smooth and bright, rich and crisp with a deep body. Molasses and blackcurrant, a little jasmine, and a hint of lemon. The aftertaste is sweet and honey flavoured.
The Coffee Estate
Kenya is considered one of the most productive regions for growing coffee in Africa. This coffee is from the Lyego farmer’s cooperative, and is funded through the “global coffee village”, a charitable foundation which sets out to develop positive working relationships between farmers and roasters.
The coffee farm is situated at the foothills of Mount Kenya, an area which, agriculturally, is ideal for growing high-grade coffee, such as this exceptional ‘AB’ graded variety.
